After reading this thread, I bought a Galletto V54 china clone, and hope it will be as they told me it would be. Here are some tips that I copied from hard-working friends that were willing to help us:

Tip 1: obd R-W with temp under 50° only on renault-bosch diesel

renault-siemens diesel dont have this strategy

Tip 2: tprot on vag are present from 05/2009 but is very random this option, is most present on engine with low power and is not compeer to years or ecu type.

the best way to know if tp is active is always bootmode and read tag on file

Tip 3: desold resonator, clean central hole, place a piece of ribbon or paper on central hole, resold up the quartz.

Tip 4: don't use FGtech china for checksum correction, there are better ways like using Winols or something in that way.

Tip 5: Important is also U2. You have a rezistor and a cap instead of tranzistor and it has impact direct in bdm and bootmode.

Tip 6: U2 "S5B" is the same as "ADAA". Made by texas instruments.

Tip 7: You should have only one missing resistor, 4.7kohm near U19. The rest are empty places.

Tip 8: BDM timing is dependent of software and system clock (crystal or ceramic resonator), other components can't have no effect in speed.

Tip 9: ZVN and ZVP transistors are connected to OBD pins 2 and 10,

this two are used for J1850 protocol, so cars that use it, will not work (some ford e.g.)

Tip 10: the 70% of problem on this tool is not HW but SW....bad cracked and without stability (and old for v54_0386)....on HW you can play how you need.

Tip 11: V54(0386) is poor cloned version. Firmware need downgrade to V53(0475), then can use newest(11/2012) soft which is also better cracked than V54 soft.

Tip 12: SN 0386 and SN 0475 both is fw53 not 54 !

difference only one... 0386 use sw from 11/2012, 0475 use sw from 12/2012 (can read/write epp in pcr2.1 ecu)

Tip 13: fg 49-50-51-52 are ALWAYS v48!

Tip 14: Galletto eu have ONLY pcb better, nothing else!

v53_0475 china hw-sw upgraded is better

Tip 15: desold resonator Y1, clean central hole, place a piece of ribbon or paper on central hole, resold up the quartz.

Tip 16: replaced Q20 with 2N7000

Tip 17: usb cable from tool to computer, bad quality

Tip 18: -v54 and v53 have same pcb, not the same fw, you need change fw inside LPC2119 and use v53_0475 sw

-you MUST change all components to have stable tool

-aes use the same SW and FW of v54 china, very bad!

VCM 2 unit is housed in a shock resistant polycarbonate case with rubber end boots, along with an extended operating temperature and voltage range, for increased durability and ruggedness in service bay and road test environments,

 

BUT do ensure the VCM II is not subjected to extreme temperature or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight that may cause heating of the VCM II.

 

Environmental requirement: Temperature & Humidity

Operating:

VCM II unit: -20ºC to 70ºC (-4ºF to 158ºF)

Wireless USB 2.0 adapter: 0ºC to 50ºC (32ºF to 122ºF) at 10% to 90% RH non-condensing

 

Storage: -40ºC to 85ºC (-40ºF to 185ºF) at 10% to 90% RH non-condensing

 

 

Issues & Causes/Solutions: VCM 2 & Temperature

 

Issue:

VCM II turns off (shutsdown/suspends-operation, all LEDs off) immediately after being powered by the USB cable or DLC cable

 

Cause/Solution:

  • Verify the ambient temperature is within the acceptable operating range for the VCM II device: -20°C to 70°C (-4°F to 158°F)
  • If the ambient temperature is outside this range allow the temperature to return to the acceptable operating range and the VCM II will automatically resume operation
  • If VCM II error persists when the ambient temperature returns to its operating range, contact your regional technical support

 

Issue:

VCM II does not appear in the list of detected wireless devices in IDS and  its Power LED blinks at a periodic rate

 

Cause/Solution:

  • Verify the VCM II is connected to the DLC cable and the DLC cable is connected to the vehicle. The VCM II must be powered using the DLC cable for the wireless interface to be operational
  • Verify the ambient temperature is within the acceptable operating range for the VCM II's wireless interface: 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F)
  • If the ambient temperature is outside this range allow the temperature to return to the acceptable operating range and the VCM II's wireless interface will automatically be enabled and the Power LED will stop blinking and stay illuminated

B.    Please pay more attention to the version of the DoIP VCI driver, it always should be the latest version. So the best you should update the driver without delay.

TIPS:

Pay more attention! ! ! When you click the “start”, it cannot be interrupted or stopped. Otherwise the DoIP VCI will be damaged. You can disconnect when it finished.

 

F.    SDD can get the hardware directly, it’s perfect if the icon is green.

PathFinder need to set the network interface.

Log in with account firstly;

Click “cancel” (Chinese word seems like “取消”);

It don’t connect successfully if it shows “SIM” “SimFiles”, you should change them into “JLR-JLR-DoIP, D-PDU API by Bosch” “86004905”. Now you can use it for diagnosis.

Techstream definitely works with the Microsoft Windows 10 (x64) operating system. Here are easy directions for newbies to install/setup Techstream on Windows 10 64 bit for VXDIAG VCX NANO Toyota.

Q: I am trying to download a version of Techstream to my Windows 10, 64 bit computer, so I may use my new VCX Nano to diagnose my car issue- won't start after 6 weeks sitting dormant.

 

A: Techstream has been compatible with 64 bit OSes for a while, so I don't think that is your problem.

 

However, the driver for VxDaig Nano (which is what I think you meant) is not a 64 bit driver, so you will need to go back the sellers of VxDaig and seek their support to load it on a 64-bit system.

 

The other option, find a cheap laptop on eBay or CL with Win 7 and follow the VxDaig Nano instructions and it will load right up.

 

Q: What version of Techstream is compatible with the 2nd gen? Will v12 work?

A: I had 12.xx.024 for a bit but it was minus several menus needed for better diagnostics:(.

 

The guy I share the Prolong setup with used the version 12 software on his 2007, so it’ll work on a Gen2 ;).

 

Reloaded 10.30.029 and it works well(y).

 

Q: Can you post the instructions or a good link for installation on win 10?

I think the first requirement is that your mini VCI cable hardware is capable of 32 and 64 bit, I think some of the earlier cables may be 32-bit (XP) only. If capable of 64-bit, then they give you a small CD with some special files "XHorse" and it takes a little bravery to mess with your Registry etc.

 

Btw, Many people will not be able to follow the instructions to install the necessary cominents. No judgement here, it is just reality.

Which is why I up telling people to stick with using an XP laptop instead.

 

That would be great if you have an XP laptop (or desktop) available...it is definitely a much easier install. But going forward I presume that'll be harder to find. I thought the Win10 instructions were a little confusing but I worked thru it.

 

Q: How to install Techstream v10 on Windows 64 bit?

A: Quick note on techstream 10.x with windows 7 or greater x64 with the 1.4.1 (and possibly the 2.0.1) Mini VCI cable. I was having absolute fits trying to get the driver recognized. Turns out the cable was being recognized as a Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 Chip. If you select that device, Select Update driver, Select Let me Pick From a list of device drivers on my computer (letting windows scan a specific location doesnt work), then click have disk and browse to the location of your MCVI drivers (Should be C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS\) and go to the ftdibus directory and select the ftdibus.inf file. This will get the correct drivers in place for the bus. The COM drivers will install automatically after you get the bus driver in place.

 

Hopefully the search engines pick this up and it is helpful for someone else.

 

Q: Tips needed for Windows 10.

A: anyone wanting to try this, use a laptop of computer (or virtual machine) that you have zero personal information on and you do not banking or commerce with.

#1 top attack vector (phishing, malware, spyware...etc) is from these kinds of unauthorized downloads.

Techstream is a paid-for item from Toyota. any pirated copies, wow rolling the dice there....

go ahead and use it but on a laptop that is disposable and you do zero personal or private work with

Q: Does anyone have answers and easy directions for computer dummies?

A: TIS Techstream V10 Setup Instruction ( !!! for 64 bit system !!! ) :

  1. copy "Program Files (x86) "folder to drive C:\ , tick "replace all current items "

 

  1. plug the Mini VCI cable into USB

 

  1. Open the Device Manager and locate two failing devices in the list. Both will appear with yellow icon (usually under "Other"), indicating that Windows failed to install drivers for them. Now, right click each failing device, select Install Driver, then "Browse my Computer"and locate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS"(enable the "include subfolders"flag). Click "Next"and wait until drivers are installed.

 

You should now see two new devices: "Universal Serial Bus Controllers\USB Serial Converte"and "Ports (COM & LPT)\USB Serial Port (COMx)".

 

  1. Run the FirmwareUpdateTool.exe from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS". Click "Device Info", You should see the "Device connected"screen.

 

  1. Now install Techstream software using "Techstream_Setup_V10.10.018.exe" on our software CD

 

  1. Software Registration: copy the two *.ini files in "Registration"folder to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env\

* Attention: It’s C:\Program Files (x86) not C:\Program Files\ , BIG DIFFERENCE !!!

 

  1. Registry Hack: Run the mvci-64bit.reg file to modify the registry for Techstream to recognize MINI-VCI under Windows x64

 

  1. Run Techstream software. Go to Setup | VIM Select menu and select the "XHorse – MVCI"

 

  1. Connect Mini VCI cable to your car's OBDII interface, turn ignition on, then click "Connect to Vehicle"in Techstream. Wait. Then wait again. If everything works, you will be prompted to confirm car year/model after which you’ll get to the diagnostic interface.

 

* Important Note:

  1. DO NOT change the "User Type"when you will run your TIS Techstream for 1st time! LEAVE IT with the Default option! "Official"Dealer/Repairer with other words…
  2. in [ VIM Select ] option, please select the [ Xhorse – MVCI ], not [ TIS Techstream VIM ]
  3. If you get the following reminder while using the program:

Register Techstream Software (S314-03)

Network connection is unavailable. A network connection is required to use Techstream software.

You can only connect 29 more times without a network connection before software registration is required.

You can reset that as following steps:

Go to C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env and find "IT3usercustom.ini"file and look for "Connectioncount=1"or what ever number of times you tried and just delete "connectioncount=1". Click save and you should be reseted back to 30

Here: gpt med17 ECU model from Audi a1 1,4tfsi 2016.

 

 

The problem is that the board is clamped in the housing. After assembly, the unit is pressurized from both sides. If you look at the sides, you can see the place in which it is clamped in these places charge clamped body. If you try to pull the plug, it may damage the contacts. (They break off at the point of bending, while the output of the board.)

3. Prepare one new keys (The left one is original)

 

4.Use the original key to turn on ignition, you have to confirm it is working.

Continue to operate by following the bellow instructions:

 

1). For transponder key.

A. Switch to "IMMO", and prepare all keys to register.

B. Turn ignition ON to position II(Instrument panel light on but engine OFF), connect programmer to OBDII socket

C. The buzzer periodically short beep with "Di", Turn ignition OFF.

D. The buzzer periodically short beep with "Di, Di, Di", turn ignition on without changing key.

E. The buzzer long beep once "Di---", key registration begins.

F. The buzzer periodically short beep with "Di", Turn ignition OFF.

G. The buzzer periodically short beep with "Di, Di", Change another key and turn ignition ON

H. Repeat step F,G, register more up to 6 keys.

I. For last key: First turn ignition ON/OFF following above instructions. When the buzzer periodically short beep with "Di Di", turn on ignition WITHOUT changing key. Then the buzzer periodically short beep with "Di", DO NOT turn off ignition and keep ignition on for more than 20 seconds.

J. The buzzer long beep once "Di---", key registration finished.

K. The buzzer periodically long beep with "Di---", start to learn

GM Tech2 clone Automated Bleed 2006 C6 Feedback

I just checked my Tech II clone against my 2006 C6. In the ABS section there is an “Automated Bleed” option. In the Radio section there is a “VIN Relearn” option. I’ve never actually used either one, but I bet they work.

The clones are literally running the same software as the Tech II, so they have all the same functions. There are a few caveats: the standard clone power supply will cause the unit to reset if you run the starter motor, apparently, though this can be fixed. Also, operating while tethered to a PC involves a bunch of licensing hacks and other nonsense. But you only need to do that if you want to flash the ECU firmware.

The Tech II lets you see (and individually reset) all the DTCs from all the modules. It also has a bunch of special functions and bidirectional capabilities.

It’s great as a standalone diagnostics tool but it isn’t intended to modify ECU parameters like tuning software does. This is a tool for fixing the car, not modifying it.

GM Tech2 Program A Module:Pass-Through Or Go-Between

For program a module with GM Tech2 scan tools,there are two methods. One is pass-through and the other is using the Tech 2 as a go-between.

How to do?Here we go:

1.The pass-through is to use with a laptop in the vehicle and it just uses the Tech 2 as the connection between. This is the fastest and easiest way to do it.

That is, the data are directly downloaded from the PC to the ECU in the vehicle.

Although the GM Tech 2 is still necessary in the mode, the data entry and the download control is done directly at the pc. Altogether, the method is faster, and it is recommended when a pc with TIS2000 software is within 3m of a vehicle.

 

  1. Connect Tech 2 to the vehicle.
  2. Connect Tech 2 to the PC switch on Tech 2.
  3. Start TIS 2000 on the PC.
  4. Select the icon ‘Service Programming System’ (Fig. 1) on the TIS2000 start page.
  5. Start TIS 2000 on the PC.
  6. On the screen ‘Select Diagnostic Tool and Programming Process’ (See picture below) make a selection for

 

***Pass-Thru mode

***the reprogramming of an ECU that was not exchanged or the replacement/programming of a new ECU

 

***the ECU location.

Then clock ‘Next’ button.

 

 

2.The go-between method is for when you can’t bring the computer into the vehicle and uses the gm Tech2 scanner as a go-between.

You connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle and download the module information that you want to program. Then you disconnect, run to the computer running Tis2000, connect it to the computer and download the programming information for that module, disconnect again and run back to the vehicle, connect it and it automatically programs the module. It can take a long time depending on the module (PCM is the longest).
